Successfully installing steam drum 1A for Mong Duong 1 thermal power plant

    At 10:00 a.m, the lifting work of steam drum 1A weighed 164 tons, 23m long, 3.25m high, and diameter of 1.8m was started. It is the most important equipment of a thermal power plant. This is a milestone to remark the change from installing steel structures for the plant to installing equipment, firstly the equip. of steam furnace system, and that work has been started 1 month earlier than the specified schedule.

     After 5 hours, steam drum 1A has been put into its position safely and accurately at the height of 60m by hydraulic jack system in witness of the Owner EVN and Main Contractor Hyundai.  

     A Representative for Main Contractor Hyundai said that the work volume reached approximately 58% and he hoped in 2013 it would reach 63% of the plan. This milestone achieving was the first success, but the next work was still very hard. However, with the close coordination between Owner and contractors, the aim of project schedule would be assured. As we know, steam drum 1B has been finished by over 84% of the steel structure installion work volume and as anticipated, it will be installed in the end of August.

    The successful installation of steam drum 1A remarks an important schedule milestone to make sure that Machine Unit 1 will be put into operation in Quarter I -2015. In accordance with the contract signed with Huyndai, LILAMA Corporation is responsible for installing turbine system, transformer, boiler, installing the coal transporting and residues system; installing subsidiary system BOP; fabricating, manufacturing and installing the underground pipeline system; manufacturing and installing the connecting pipeline system; installing the fire-alarming and extinguishing system; providing, manufacturing and installing silo, steel structure supports for residue silo; providing and installing the insulation for boiler, etc. The schedule is from September 2012 to October 2015 with the total installed equipment quantity of 81,160 tons for M&E equip. and 529,900 DI for pressured  pipelines.

     The Mong Duong 1 thermal power plant has two machine units with total capactity of 1,080 MW. The electric productivity will be 6.5 billion kWh per year. As planned, Machine Unit 1 will be finished and put into operation after 40 months (Quarter 1/2015), and Machine Unit 2 will be put into use after 46 months (Quarter 3/2015 as anticipated).
