Lai Chau thermal power construction site: LILAMA workers awaiting for the day of generating electricity from machine unit 3
Lai Chau hydro power plant is entering the end of Autumn, October 2016. It is only several km from new town of Nam Nhun district to the plant yard with smooth concrete road. The plant has total capacity of 1,200MW (the third biggest one all over the country). On these days of previous year, there were iron, steel and concrete lying about in disorder and in the way of the construction site together with thousands of workers from such companies as: 365 Construction army corps, LICOGI Corp., LILAMA Corp. and other units belonging to Main Contractor Song Da, who always hasten to perform items spreading through out the plant.
Today, the dam deviding the river with more than 2,000,000 m3 of concrete is standing superbly at the height of 110m and its length is over 900m, it blocks the flow of fierce Da River supstream. How beautiful and superb it is with 6 smooth and strong outlet doors, showing the red plate with letter line “LAI CHAU HYDRO POWER PLANT”.
The way to the plant was large and clean but sometimes there were people and vehicles going by. As we known, the plant has 2 machine unit operating since December 2015 for the time being, and up to now, they have produced approximately 4 billion KWh for the national grid, contributing about VND 4,000 billion to national budget.
Up to now, the work volume has been finished by 95% for machine unit 3, namely: Stator is being completed at final stage for drying and high voltage test, Rotor has been assembled and tested for high voltage already; Magnetic pole is being painted for finish, Turbine has been assembled and its wheel, axis have been installed already, others are being urgently fulfilled to strive for installing Rotor on 6/09/2016.
Besides, the works of installing electrical equipment, auxiliaries are now being performed so as to assure the schedule of generating electricity for machine unit 3 in the end of November 2016. At the same time, machine units 1 & 2 are generating commercial power stably, safely. The plant will be finished as per anticipated time, in the end of 2016 “a year ahead of schedule”.
Lai Chau hydro power plant having 03 machine units with total capacity of 1,200MW is being built in Nam Nhun district, Lai Chau province. Together with Hoa Binh hydro power plant (1,920MW) and Son La hydro power plant (2,400MW), when the Lai Chau is finished and put into operation, total capacity of hydro power plants on Da River will achieve approximately 6,500MW, contributing about 25 billion kWh of electricity and bringing in the power productivity value of USD1.2-1.3 billion per year.
