LILAMA signs the Contract of Main Equipment Supplying for O Mon I Thermal Power Plant Fuel Conversion Project

The signing ceremony between LILAMA – MHI – MP was an important milestone marking a new period of wide-ranged cooperation to implement the EPC Package No. 5 of the project.

Under the contract signed, MHI and MP shall take over the engineering and supplying work for main equipment including burner nozzle, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and the auxiliaries, while providing technical advisory services in building, test-running and operating process.

The combination between Japanese advancing technology and high technical qualification with the capability of Vietnamese project management and performance shall made up a strategical project which contributes to boost the industry domestication and development in the national energy transition.

Addressing the speech at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – LILAMA President & CEO stressed: “Today is not only the event of signing important documents, but also the beginning of a new chapter in cooperation between LILAMA, EVNGENCO3 and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, in which the partnership is built on trust, respect and shared goals. The O Mon TPP Fuel Conversion Project reflects Vietnam’s strong commitment in energy transition and carbon reduction.

LILAMA President also express his thanking to Japanese partners for their professionalism, dedication and sincere cooperation throughout the preparation process. Mr. Hung committed LILAMA would coordinate closely with MHI and EVNGENCO3 to deploy the project safely, on schedule to the highest standards, environmental protection and economic efficiency.

Previously, on September 2025, the EPC Consortium of LILAMA and EVNGENCO3 had officially signed the contract to implement the Package No.5 (EPC-01) on “Engineering, equipment supplying and construction for the O Mon 1 TTP to convert into using Block B natural gas” which was owned by Power Generation Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO2). According to the schedule, the project shall be built in 45 months including 21-month construction and 24-month guarantee.

This ceremony also reaffirmed LILAMA’s position a Vietnam leading mechanical and machinery business in terms of mastering the advanced technology, expanding international relationships and making a dynamic contribution into the national modernization and industrialization.
