LILAMA – POWERCHINA Consortium signs Quang Trach II Project’s EPC contract with EVN

Guests attending the signing ceremony were representatives from the central ministries of Industry & Trade, Finance, Construction; EVN leaders, Vietnam Electricity Power Projects Management Board No.2 (EVNPMB2); POWERCHINA - LILAMA leaders, financing banks including Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV and Agribank; many correspondents from news agencies and press as well as relating units.

Quang Trach II LNG project has a capacity of 1,612.8MW composing of 02 units (2 x 806.4MW) which is built in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province. The Project is owned by EVN, represented and managed by EVNPMB2; POWERCHINA – LILAMA consortium is the EPC contractor; and the joint-venture of Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1(PECC1) and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 (PECC3) as the project management consultant (PMC).

The signing event marked a significant commencement in construction of a technologically advancing plant using LNG as main fired fuel which is highly productive and eco-friendly in efficiency. When operating, the plant shall supply a production of about 10 billion kWh per year to the national power grid, contributing to secure energy security and to reduce carbon emissions as well as promote energy transition toward sustainable development.

Addressing speech in the ceremony, EVN leader stressed that the implementation of Quang Trach II LNG project had a special importance within the circumstance of constantly increasing demand for electricity, while strongly affirmed EVN’s determination in large-scale modern power projects investment and development to meet social-economic development requirements of the country.

Also in the ceremony, representative of POWERCHINA-LILAMA Consortium confirmed that with their rich experience in the EPC contractor field from large-scale power projects inside and outside Vietnam, they shall mobilize maximumly resources on human, equipment and technology for the performance; strictly conform all commitments as stated in the EPC Contract and secure quality, safety and effectiveness during the whole process of execution. LILAMA therein continued to assert the role as a Vietnamese main force in mechanical and machinery contracting field in implementation of the national important power projects.

The signing ceremony of Quang Trach II LNG Thermal Power Project having taken place solemnly and successfully would be a crucial precondition for the project to be carried out on schedule in accordance with the project plan, contributing to realize targets of electricity sector development and energy transition of the nation in the coming time.
