LILAMA enhances capacity on industrial coating towards high-tech projects

On July 14th, 2026, LILAMA Corporation in collaboration with Hempel Vietnam Co., ltd held a training and technical exchange program on industrial coating, anti-corrosion protection, and paint quality control in LILAMA 69.3 Equipment Manufacturing Factory. The workshop was considered a practical step for the strategy of standardizing technical competence, improving construction quality, and meeting higher requirements of large projects inside and outside the country.

Industry - aligned intensive training program

The program was held online and offline with the attendance of managers, engineers, inspectors, construction staff, and QA/QC technicians from LILAMA’s units. The training content covered the industrial coating work chain from planning construction management to carrying out inspection, testing, and addressing usual defects.

Making a presentation for technical exchange in the workshop was Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Xuan – the Regional Technical Manager of Hempel in Vietnam and Malaysia. He has over-28-year experience in the field of paint and coating protection, worked for Hempel for 25 years, while he obtained a FROSIO Level 3 certificate on paint inspection and anti-corrosion coating system. Thanks to Mr. Xuan’s in-depth experience, the workshop was provided with not only basic knowledge but also delved into practice situations required by high-tech factories, sites, and industrial projects.

Place the industrial coating technology in the quality chain

In modern industrial projects, coating work is simply not a completing segment. The coating system is a technical component having direct effect on anti-corrosion ability, structural longevity, operational reliability, and cost maintenance over the project life cycle.

From that perspective, the training session focused on clarifying the relation of material, surface quality, environmental factors, construction method, and actual protection effectiveness. More particularly, topics on epoxy coatings, like polyurethane, silicate zinc, silicone; surface preparation; coating thickness controlling; dew point temperature, humidity, and surface temperature were also presented systematically and easily applicable.

Besides, the workshop also mentioned solutions according to ISO 12944 for highly corrosive atmospheres, coastal structures, heat-resistant equipment and ducts, as well as required quality of complicated projects.

From specialized training to system capability

The value of this course was not only about the technical exchange but also the possibilities of transforming knowledge and experience into procedures, checklist, acceptance criteria, and a unified control approach.

Through cooperation with Hempel, LILAMA has gradually strengthened the capacity of solution selection, performance organization, and quality management for anti-corrosion in a more systematic way. This would be a foundation for reducing errors, restricting repair, extending building lifespan, and improving adaptability to international standards.

In the coming time, coating and anti-corrosion protection capacity should be developed in alignment with data, digital measuring devices, automation, and intensive personnel training. Because paint technology only creates real value as it is based on a standardized procedure, a qualified team, and strict discipline of quality.

The workshop was not only a technical training course, but also an important preparation for LILAMA to enhance capacity for large-scale projects like offshore structures, power plants, high-speed railways, and exporting equipment. Targeting sustainable and long-term development, the program on intensive training by Hempel in combination with practical lessons in LILAMA sites will be held periodically, through which two companies step by step establish a close and comprehensive quality chain from the producer to end-users.
