Vung Ang 1 thermal power plant: machine unit 1 generated electrictiy beyond the designed capacity

08/08/2014 09:10

As reported from Lilama Project Board at site of Vung Ang 1 thermal power plant, at 20:45 of August 7th 2014, machine unit 1 of the plant generated electricity at the maximum capacity of 630 MW, equivalent to 105% of the designed capacity (600MW).

Machine Unit 1 operated at 105% of the designed capacity

Thus, after merging into the national grid, in supervision and calibration of  Lilama engineers and contractors, machine unit 1 has officially operated over the designed capacity, all technical specifications have met the defined requirements. With the capacity of 600 MW for each machine unit, this is the thermal power project which has the biggest machine unit capacity in Vietnam for the time being, it was constructed and installed by a domestic EPC Contractor, and it was also merged into the national grid successfully.

That is the result of labouring years with enthusiasm, creativeness and many hardship overcoming of collective of Lilama's engineers, workers at site. After putting machine unit 1 into use at capacity of 600 MW, Lilama continued to calibrate and test the rest functions in preparation for the commercial operation in October 2014.

Besides, the work of blowing-off for machine unit 2 has been completed on 17/6/2014 and the preparation work for first burning with coal is now being conducted quickly. Upto now, Lilama has finished approximately 98.7% of the whole project work volume.

The Vung Ang 1 thermal power plant is an important national project with total capacity of 1,200MW (it has 2 machine units and the capacity of each one is 600MW), it has been invested by Petroleum of Vietnam (PVN) and performed by EPC Contractor LILAMA Corporation.
