After a month maintaining and repairing at Dung Quat oil refinery plant (Quang Ngai), up to now 98 engineers and technicians of Bac Ninh steel structure manufacturing (member of Lilama 69-1 JSC) under the guide of Director Nguyen Huy Hoang have achieved remarkable results.

For the purpose of safe operation, stable, and efficient of a factory or plant, the work of repairing, maintaining plays an important role, especially for thermal power plants, oil chemical plants. As planned in 2014, Dung Quat Oil Refinery plant will pause its operation from early May to the end of June for the overall maintenance periodically. This is the 2nd maintaining time since the plant operation in February 2009.

With the prestige and trademark in maintaining and overhauling work for thermal power plants and oil chemical plants, Lilama 69-1 JSC was trusted and assigned the responsibility of repairing and maintaining some items of Dung Quat plant by the project management board in this 2nd time.

Though participating in the 1st overhauling time, the maintaining work in this 2nd time has a lot of difficulties: the working place is narrow, the operating position is high and very dangerous and the schedule requirement is very tight. On the other hand, overhauling and repairing oil refinery factories is very complicated, requiring workers to be patient, careful and they must have a passion for the work, profession skills, and seriously follow labour regulations.

Mr Nguyen Huy Hoang, Director of the steel structure manufacturing plant said: "In 2nd time, the work of maintenance and overhaul the Company signed with Owner consists of Contract of repairing Expansion Joint, contract of supplying 12 people for Owner to work according to requirements, contract of heat gain for pipelines signed with Petroleum Technical Service JSC (PTSC), contract of repairing 04 cyclones, contract of supplying 05 experienced worker to calibrate turbine for power generator of the power factory in the oil refinery plant.

Regarding the achieved results, Mr Hoang said: "At first, we only signed the contract of heat gain for PTSC and contract of calibrating, maintaining turbine, however, we finished the two contracts very well, then the Owner continued to assign us to be responsible for contract of repairing 4 cyclones. Up to now, after a month, we have finished that contract, substituted 03 new Expansion Joints, installed 02 Spool pipe 60 Inch & pipe 100 Inch, installed 2 reinforcement beams MH400A, replaced beam MH200 with beam MH400, poured concrete of heat endurance for repairing some floors & staircases, rails of staircase, steel structure work and many others."

According to Engineer Nguyen Tien Hung, difficulties during the maintenance process were that "Among contracts signed with Owner, repairing 04 cyclones is the most difficult because the location of these 04 cyclone is at 90m high from earth, and in a big tower. When implementing the work, labourers must creep into the tower, cut and transport things outside in a very narrow space. After that, they must bring and install the cyclone into its position in the tower."

However, with responsibility and enthusiasm, the engineers, technicians and workers who were not afraid of sunny or rainy weather, raced against time to finish their work, surpassing the schedule. Especially, safety work was followed seriously by each worker and highly appreciated by Project Leader Board.
