Installing steam drum for machine unit 2 of Thai Binh 2 thermal power plant

18/05/2015 09:05

This morning (18/5), Lilama has conducted to install steam drum for machine unit 2 of Thai Binh 2 thermal power project (Thai Thuy-Thai Binh).

At 09:00 a.m, the steam drum (the heart of the plant) weighed 320 tons with diameter of 2.145m and length of 32.5m has been lifted onto its installation position by Lilama 69-1 JSC (member of Lilama Corporation) with hydraulic jack method. As anticipated, after 7 hours, the steam drum will be in its installation position according to requirements of design at the height of 66.23m. They are striving for the pressure test in May 2016.

Steam drum particularly and the entire boiler generally is one of the most important item regarding the technological aspect and it always belongs to the strain line of schedule of a thermal power plant project. To carry out steam drum lifting is an important milestone to assert that all the work of installing steel structures for boiler has been finished and it has had enough conditions for loading. Simultaneously, this is also an important start to conduct the installation of pressure system and equipment of boiler.

Formerly, on 3/2/2015, steam drum of machine unit 1 had been installed successfully by Lilama 18 (30 days earlier than the schedule), and they are striving for pressure test on 17/2/2016. Up to now, Lilama has finished the work volume as follows: steel structrues: finished 5545/6888 tons, pressure: 1540.3/5152 tons, non-pressure: 394.88/7979.5 tons for boiler 1, for boiler 2: 4764.6/6888 tons of steel structures.

Thai Binh 2 thermal power plant is an important project belonging to Thai Binh Electricity Centre. According design, the plant has 2 machine units with total capacity of 1,200 MW and its Owner is Petroleum of Vietnam PVN. When being put into operation, the plant will supply the national grid with 6.7 billion kWh per year.
