Song Hau 1 thermal power project will be finished in accordance with defined schedule

On June 15th, at Song Hau Electricity Centre (Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province), Trade Union of Petroleum of Vietnam in coordination with Management Board of Song Hau 1 Petroleum Power Project, Lilama Corporation (Lilama), Vietnam Petroleum Technical Service Corporation (PTSC) has organized the ceremony of launching emulation at the construction site of Song Hau 1 thermal power plant and inaugurating Equipment Import Harbour belonging to the Centre.

     Song Hau 1 thermal power plant which belongs to Song Hau Electricity Centre is located in Mai Dam town, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province with total capacity of 1,200 MW consisting of 02 machine units (2x600MW), the construction area is 115.2 ha, its Owner is PVN and the Owner's representative is Management Board of Song Hau 1 Petroleum Power Project who is responsible for managing the project. Lilama is the EPC Main Contractor, Doosan Corp. is the contractor supplying main equipment for the plant.

     This is one of the national main important projects belonging to the Electricity Plan VII approved by Prime Minister and allowed to apply specific mechanism to invest in construction of urgent power projects pursuant to Decision No. 2414/QĐ-TTg by Prime Minister. Thermal power projects of Song Hau Electricity Centre have total capacity of 3,200 to 5,200 MW.

     The total investment capital for Song Hau 1 thermal power plant is about VND 43,043 billion equivalent to USD 2,046 billion. The plant has an important meaning in realizing the Electricity Development Strategy until 2030 of PVN. According to the signed schedule, the plant will be finished and operate its machine units in year 2019.

     When being put into operation, the plant will supply the national grid with 7.8 billion kWh per year, contributing to ensure the national energy security and develop the economy of The Mekong River Delta generally, Hau Giang province particularly.

     Speeking at the ceremony, Mr Tran Cong Chanh, Party Provincial Committee Secretary of Hau Giang praised the efforts of the Management Board, engineers & workers of Main Contractor and sub-contractors who had performed the work quickly, seriously so as to ensure the schedule and safety of the project.

     For the province, this is the biggest investment project, and that is why they will support the Owner as well as contractor so that the plant will be put into use on time.
